Mayme Ewing began life as a cheerful window cleaner, beavering away secretly on a device that could look through clothing. On an auspicious day in 1988, Mayme was picked up, while panhandling for scraps, by little known talent scout Sharron Pruitt, prancing on her own beard shavings.
