Chuck Letterman, director of successful thriller "Metal Boots" and aclaimed comedy "Owls don't give a hoot", is planning to make a film about Nostradamus.
The film is said to follow a 'ghost' version of Nostradamus through his "Centuries" quatrains, over history. The film is aleady planned to be over 3 hours long in order to cover the thousands of verses of the book.
Letterman has said:
"Nostradamus was obviously a genius of prophecy. A legend in himself, he has allowed legends to come true. My personal take on Nostradamus is not simply that he predicted these events, but that he is so powerful that he actually controlled and caused these events."
"Nostradamus did not predict the coming of Napolean Bonaparte - he actually created that situation by very subtle ghostly persuasion."
"This also explains 1999 and why we did not all die, as Nostradamus predicted. He did not 'predict' this as such, but he did think that by 1999 the world would be an awful place. Nostradamus planned to cause destruction himself in 1999 because he thought it would be best for mankind."
Letterman's film is an interpretation of mainly European history, as Nostradamus thought the world should be.
Currently Letterman is approaching actor Donald Sutherland to play Nostradamus, and Elizabeth Hurley to play his girlfriend.
