Valentina Shevchenko to try out for Peruvian National Shooting team

One of the most fearsome women on the planet is about to get even scarier. Two weeks after her lop-sided beat-down of the Brazilian Priscila Cachoeira, Valentina Shevchenko says that she plans to try out for the Peruvian National Shooting team with the hope of getting a chance of participating in the 52nd ISSF World Championships in Changwon, South Korea in August. In an interview with the Peruvian Times, the number one Women's Flyweight contender said:

"I love showing off my versatility. Anyone who knows me well should also be aware that my nickname is "Bullet" and there is a perfectly good reason for that. I am a skilled pistol-shooter and similar to what I do in the Octagon, I seldom miss hitting the target in front of me. That's why I intend to try out for the Peruvian National Shooting team when the national championships are held in July and hopefully I'll make the team. I have the utmost confidence that I will."

Asked further about how she intends to balance her time training for UFC fights and perfecting her markswoman skills, Shevchenko replied:

"It's quite easy really. I just have a planned schedule. As a professional athlete it is always important to have the right balance. So when I am finished with my MMA training I go straight to the shooting range. And with the ISSF World Championships scheduled for August in South Korea, I intend to represent Peru and give a good account of myself. I am not just going there to make up numbers; my intention is to become World Champion in my event - the 25 Metre Pistol because my dream of becoming World Champion in the UFC is yet to be fulfilled. But hopefully though even that will come to fruition before this year ends."

She ended the interview by saying alliteratively:

"And when it does, not only will I be known as the fabulous female Flyweight fighter who lets her foes feel the fury of her fists and her feet but they will also get to see the perfect precision of the pellets that I pump from my powerful pistol."
