Quentin Tarantino has today released news via Twitter that the sequel to the hit 1994 movie Pulp Fiction is to begin production within the next few weeks. The original film, known for its timid storylines of day-to-day realities like drug taking, gangsterism, and male-on-male rape, has become an offbeat classic amongst hipsters, though widely disliked by the general populace for being "too normal and boring".
The new film, named thus far "Pulp Fiction 2", is said to address criticisms of the original film. Movie student Art Garscher, told us his opinions on the news:
"The first film, while reasonably well directed, was very tame for late 20th century moviegoers. The writing was clunky, and some of the acting rather staid. This time around Tarantino will want to rely on better actors such as Channing Tatum and Ashton Kutcher.
"If the director can hire one of the guys who does those insurance ads for TVs to tidy up the script, I'm sure it can be a real hit. A winner. The best. Primo. Dynamite. Yowsers."
The chances of the original crew returning are said to be fairly low, though Samuel L Jackson has shown in the Star Wars prequels that, given an excellent script, he is able to raise his acting game. Unfortunately, nobody knows what happened to the other actors involved in the original film.
While details of the plot are yet to leak [Ed: more subtle phrasing?] many are speculating that the theme for the movie may include kitten robberies and tagging. If true, then perhaps this could be the film that finally gets Tarantino the credit he longs for.
