Mayor Khan: London is safer than Warsaw

After yet another terrorist attack, London Mayor Saddiq Khan is claiming that London is safer than Warsaw. Speaking to reporters moments after yesterday's bombing on a London Underground train which left 25 people injured but no deaths, Mr. Khan had this to say:

"Look, I know that many of us are saying that they are not safe and that once again there has been a supposed terrorist attack under my watch. But such assumptions would be baseless to say the least. The fact of the matter is that London is much safer than most European cities. It is much safer than Warsaw. Yes. You heard me correctly London is a much safer city than Warsaw."

Mayor Khan continued:

"I am quite aware that what I just said would come as a great shock to a lot of us. But the fact of the matter is do you know how much Neo-Nazis live in Warsaw? The sad truth is that if someone like me were to walk down the streets of Warsaw, I will not feel safe at all. In fact, I would probably be beaten to death by those Neo-Nazis because I look different. That's right. Only because I look different."

He went on:

"Such isolated incidents which occurred a while ago should in no way deter people who may want to visit this beautiful city which, thankfully, has now become a multiracial, multicultural melting pot. And this is what makes the city of London and by extension the country of England great - our diversity. A diversity of races, religions and cultures. This is what establishes us from the rest of the world. The Japanese can't boast of this. Neither the Poles."

It was then that Paul Andrews of the The Times interjected:

"The Japanese and the Poles don't experience terrorist attacks in their countries either. But then again, you are the same guy who said that terrorist attacks are part and parcel of living in a big city. That is why I find it strange that you have the audacity to say that London is safer than Warsaw."

A visibly embarrassed Khan, smiled, shook his head and walked off dejectedly.
