Socialist Bernie Sanders is praising Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and says that Venezuela is "doing fine" under his leadership. In an interview with the political website theleftisright.com, Sanders had this to say about the seemingly troubled South American nation.
"If one were to look at a fine example of Socialism at its best, one just has to look no further than Venezuela. This is a Socialist Utopia that should be the envy of people in Capitalist countries. No one has too much and everyone is satisfied with what they have. Why must one person have more wealth than another person like what happens in Capital countries? Is that fair?"
"Capitalism is an evil system of greed and excessive spending. Socialism is a system of sharing what little you have, being contented and not trying to live beyond your means. This is what Mr. Maduro is trying to get the Venezuelan people to understand. But unfortunately the evil opposition in Venezuela is trying to convince the proletariat that Maduro is this evil tyrant who wants to oppress them. They want to revert to the days prior to 1998 when the oppressive Capitalist system dominated."
He went on:
"But twenty years on and we can all see how much Venezuela has progressed since then under Socialism and we all have the late great Hugo Chavez to thank for that. May God rest his soul."
"It's a pity that I couldn't get a chance to do a similar thing in America because unfortunately I lost the Democratic nomination to Hillary Clinton who, sadly, lost her bid for the Presidency to that pathetic excuse for a Commander-in-Chief, Donald Trump. That said, I do intend to run again for the Presidency in 2020 and hopefully I'll win my bid for the White House then I'll finally get my chance to transform America into a Venezuela-like Socialist Utopia."
