Members of a small Christian Church in Port Angeles, Washington have gotten some shocking news from their Pastor. Leader of the Church "Children of God" Rev. Anthony Thomas has said that the wearing of Nike products is effectively endorsing a pagan god and that all who wear Nike products are basically condemning themselves to hell.
Speaking to "Peninsula Daily News" Rev. Thomas said, "I was just doing some research on the internet the other day on ancient pagan gods and lo and behold I saw the name Nike appear among them. Nike was an ancient pagan god of Greek mythology. The so-called "goddess of victory." "Victory?" "Really?" "Everybody knows that we only have victory in Jesus." As he cited 1 Corinthians 15:57.
"So I had to tell my congregation the shocking news during my Sunday sermon. Many seemed surprised by the new revelation but that is the way the Holy Spirit works. It always leads you to the truth. Jesus told this to his disciples in John 16:13. If we call ourselves true Christians then we have to obey the Word of God and do what it says or not do as the case may be." As he quoted Exodus 20:3. "So from this day forth, no member of my Church will be allowed to wear Nike products or support sports teams who are sponsored by Nike."
Asked further if he would make an exception and throw his support behind American athletes in the Olympics which will be coming up in a few weeks' time, seeing that Nike is one of the major sponsors of the U.S. Olympic team, Rev. Thomas had this response: "The Olympics? Are you kidding me? A sports event created by pagan Greeks to honor false gods? I swear that if the U.S. Olympic team doesn't fall to their knees, pray and ask for God's forgiveness for disobeying the first commandment, hell will be their eternal home."

What a waste of everyone's time, effor and energy. Perfect write up, but marred by superficial errors that make the majority of it barely readable.
THIS ROCKS MY WORLD.
:)
Why does this not seem to bother anyone else? I just don't like this kind of thing, and it really bugs me that everyone else thinks it's OK.
I thought it was funny.
