In a shocking move, Twitter has bestowed the coveted blue checkmark to a user claiming to be the one and only Bigfoot. While some members of the public were excited at the possibility of communicating with the elusive creature, others were skeptical.
"I mean, sure, if he can use Twitter that's pretty impressive for a Sasquatch. But where's the proof that he even exists? I need to see some fuzzy, out-of-focus photos or footprints or something," said local conspiracy theorist, Hank Johnson.
Critics have also pointed out the absurdity of Bigfoot mastering the English language and technology, let alone using social media.
"It's like the Loch Ness Monster starting a YouTube channel. Absurd," said Twitter user @NotALeprachaun3.
While Bigfoot's tweets range from mundane observations about his forest home to commentary on pop culture, some fans are convinced of his authenticity.
"I always knew he was out there. His tweets have that authentic woodland musk to them," said self-proclaimed Bigfoot enthusiast, Sharon Davis.
In response to the skeptics, Bigfoot himself tweeted, "I am real! I just don't like cameras. Or people. Or civilization. But I do like tweeting. #BigfootTweet"
Despite his assurances, the debate over Bigfoot's existence rages on. Is he a clever hoaxer or a misunderstood forest dweller trying to connect with society? Only time, and a better camera, will tell.
